The Future
Before looking at the future I would like to reflect on 2008, it has been an extremely busy year, not only with schools and parties but also with filming for television. Peter Prodromou who has been with me at Impeyan the longest and whom I regard as my surrogate son, has been working hard on “The Paul O' Grady Show” and many children’s programs, most recently appearing on “Gastronuts” for CBBC with a feature on edible insects. Gareth Williamson also helped make a wonderful program for CBeebies featuring many of our Impeyan animals. Gareth and Michael Fordham also filmed with some of our animals for Blue Peter in their animal alphabet section.
We have all had interesting visits abroad, Peter in Florida working with alligators in the Everglades which can be seen on this website. Peter has also been to Southern India with Michael where they were able to study, catch and relocate various venomous snakes including the king cobra. In September I was extremely privileged to visit North Borneo with my dear friend Denise, where we encountered wild orang-utans, a report and pictures will follow soon on this site.
Hopefully in the next few months we will be moving from our present site to a location in the countryside where we can expand on our rare breeds programme, this will be financed by myself, Peter and Denise. Peter of whom I am extremely proud of will be hosting his own television show in 2009 and we will let you know all the details as it happens.
I am also justly proud of all our Impeyan team who not only present amazing wildlife shows but also volunteering their help with projects with a multitude of different talents ranging from building, maintenance, animal welfare and record keeping to designing and maintaining our websites, principally Ben Pugh for our educational website and Michael for our party site.
We would also like to thank all our patrons and schools who over the years have helped us to contribute to our work with wildlife and education. The future therefore looks bright with many exciting new projects in 2009. I hope you can return to this website to see its new developments and we hope to meet you in person at one of our presentations.
Best wishes to you all
Charles Mason
